Tuesday night was Bunco night. Not my regular, second Tuesday of the month group, but with a much larger group. I joined about 800 other women for the 2007 Bunco for Breast Cancer. We had such a good time. It's a fund raiser for the Hope Fund which provides free mammograms to women who cannot afford them. Ten of our regular bunco group and two other friends sat at the same table, so we really had a good time. My neighbor, and fellow bunco friend, Denise, was in charge of the event, so she was unable to play with us. One of our group, Jessie, got the best costume award. It was a 50's theme, so she went as a car hop from the 50's, even wearing roller skates!
There was a lot of hard work and planning that took place for this to be such a success. This was the 5th one and it just keeps getting bigger and better. There were women there from near and far, from old and young. Everyone had a such a good time!
The best part is that we were all having a good time for a great cause. I lost a dear, sweet aunt to breast cancer in 1969. She was a beautiful, loving wife and mother of four who lost her battle with breast cancer at the young age of 39. Hopefully, with the help of the Hope Fund, a life can be saved with early detection from a mammogram.
